Kia Asamiya has been active in the world of anime and manga for over three decades. His international breakthrough came with the manga "Silent Möbius" (1988), which was later adapted into an anime. His other noteworthy works include "Meteor Battleship Nadesico", "Steam Detectives", and "Corrector Yui", all of which have also been adapted into animes. His most recent work is the fascinating "My Favorite Carrera".
But Asamiya is much more than just a manga artist. In recent years, he has been involved in the production of anime series such as "Kyokai Senki", "Star Blazers", and "Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These". In addition, he has also left his mark in the field of American comics, with works on "Batman", "Iron Man", and even an official manga adaptation of "Star Wars EP1".
Asamiya's career in anime production began back in the 80s, where he worked as an anime artist on numerous anime series such as "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind", "Transformers", "Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel", and "Mobile Suit Z Gundam".
The events with Kia Asamiya at the Anime Messe Babelsberg are planned as follows: Manga Workshop (Friday, 11:30-12:30): Five volunteers have the unique opportunity to work on a manga with Kia Asamiya. || Live Drawing (Saturday, 11:50-12:50): Watch as the master personally creates an impressive graphic whilst discussing his extensive career. || Animation Workshop (Sunday, 16:40-17:40): Five volunteers have the chance to create a small animation with the master. || Furthermore, there will be an art exhibition that you can explore in the workshop area, and there will be a signing session on each day.
