Yōko Ishida began her career in 1990 when she won the Grand Prix at the Anime Singer Contest. She made her official debut in March 1993 with the ending song “Otome no Policy” from the TV anime series “Sailor Moon R.” Since then, she has sung numerous ending songs for various anime and games and has also impressed as a songwriter.
Her musical journey has taken her to stages around the world. Yōko Ishida has performed concerts globally, establishing herself as a cultural bridge-builder. Alongside her international career, she is also active in her hometown of Niigata, where she worked as a teacher at a vocational school and served as an ambassador for local events like “Gata Fes.” Her versatility and dedication make her a true icon of the anime music scene.
A significant milestone in her career was the success of the opening theme “STRIKE WITCHES Watashi ni Dekiru Koto” from the TV anime series “Strike Witches” in 2008. Since then, she has sung all the subsequent title songs of the “Strike Witches” series, significantly shaping the musical universe of this series.
