Experience the traditional Japanese art of sword drawing live! The Esaka Dojo Berlin & Potsdam presents an impressive Iaido demonstration on Friday at 11:10 am in the large Vulkan Arena. Visit their booth in the matsuri area to learn more about this fascinating martial art!
The Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu style is taught in the Esaka Dojos Berlin and Potsdam. Students train according to the traditions and rules that have been handed down in Japan for many generations and are passed on by Japanese masters. The training mainly involves practising katas - fixed sequences of movements - which are intended to prepare the practitioner for numerous variations of an attack.
The training objective has changed since the Japanese Middle Ages. Today, the focus is on executing the correct movements as precisely as possible in order to understand the essence of this martial art with mind and body. The complexity and precision of the movements require and promote a pronounced ability to concentrate.
In addition to the demonstration, the Esaka Dojo Berlin & Potsdam will also be represented with a booth in the matsuri area every day. Interested parties can find out more about the training and philosophy of Iaido there. Take the opportunity to find out more about this impressive martial art and perhaps pick up a katana yourself.
